GroundFirst are on hand to assist with your environmental permit application and compliance needs.
If your business manages or produces waste or emissions that pollute the air, water or land you may well need an environmental permit in line with the Environmental Permitting Regulations.
Permit exemptions are available for those activities which are considered to be easily controlled and only create low risks of pollution. In addition, a permit may not be needed if your activities comply with certain ‘basic rules’ set out by the Environment Agency.
Where a permit is required you must apply for either a standard permit (associated with typical waste transfer or recycling operations) or a bespoke permit (for activities such as intensive farming, surface water discharges or more hazardous waste activities).
A key aspect of any permit application is to assess the risks to human health and the wider environment. Assuming these risks are acceptable, the issued permit will contain various conditions or rules which must be met in order to control any ongoing pollution risks.
